Blazing Cottonwoods - Ruth Andre

While in Amador City last week I painted this lively painting down by the creek that runs through town.  The cottonwoods were blazing with color making for, "A Painting Day".

Oak Shadow - Ruth Andre

I live in the flat of the valley floor close to the creek.  My neighbor's Ron and Donna live up the hill sometimes referred to as the Banana Belt because the sun shines on their ranch much earlier than ours and they rarely have frost on the ground and we seem to have a blanket of frost each and every morning.
It is cold here in the valley.
R & D also have a very nice view and this is one of the oaks they see daily.
I enjoyed having, "A Painting Day" not far from home.

Back Home

When I saw this old house it reminded me of the homesteads I have visited that once belonged to my grandparents in Southern Illinois.  It also reminded me of home and how wonderful it is to go back home for the holidays to be with family and friends.  Thinking about times past made for, "A Painting Day.

Malibu Blue - Moses Botkin Challenge - Ruth Andre

Each month one artist from the Moses Botkin Challenge chooses a subject for the group to paint.  This month the Challenge was "Blue".  Just BLUE and we could paint what ever struck our fancy.  I chose a gorgeous view of the ocean along the Malibu coastline.  Visiting Malibu reawakens my love of the sea.  I doubt one could tire of its beauty.  Looking out to sea made for, "A Painting Day".

Take a look at the other "Blue" Challenge paintings listed below.  I am sure you will find them delightful.  I love them all!

Silvana Reception - Ruth Andre

Painting is done in solitude.  When out painting the landscape you strive to be with nature and do your best to take it all in and hopefully place that feeling with paint and brush on the canvas.  The showing is an all together different thing.  It done with bright lights and a lot of fan fare, a celebration at best.  The Silvana Gallery knows how to celebrate art and I have posted a few photos sent to me by my son, Ian, that show a glimpse of the gallery and my paintings.
Thinking of the celebration made me think of how nice it is to have, "A Painting Day".
