Ruth Andre - A Painting Day - Wild Horse Crossing

"Wild Horse Crossing"
6"x6"x.75" oil on panel
by Ruth Andre

The wild horses still roam in the rural areas of the plains. It is so special to see the banes of wild horses being free. I have a favorite wild horse photographer and his name is Mark Terrell and you can find his wild horse photos Here on his blog, Wild Horses of Nevada Photography. Mark must be a patient man to capture on film the intimate moments within the wild herd. My love of the plains and the wild horses has made for, "A Painting Day".

Guardian of the Plains

Mark Terrell took the reference photo for this painting.  He photographed this wild horse in his home state on Nevada.  I call the painting, "Guardian of the Plains".  He is watching over  his heard and a bit weary of the intruder with the camera.  Meeting Mark Terrell made for, "A Painting Day".
