The "Walk" series continues with painting #4. When one walks they not only move but they see and smell and hear what is around them. It is lovely to quietly walk and be with ones self. It has been,

Over There- Ruth Andre

"Over There"
10"x10"x1.5" oil & mixed media on panel
by Ruth Andre

I am feeling skittish lately. My neighbors have reported finding a rattlesnake near their home. The valley where I live currently has more wildlife than people and there are mice and squirrels so it is great feeding area for snakes. I find myself looking about when I walk to my studio, feed the horses, walk around in the barn. I don't want to be surprised by a snake especially a rattlesnake. So today the painting title is "Over There" because I am constantly looking Over There making sure all is snake free. It has been, "A Painting Day".

Many Moons Ago - Ruth Andre

"Many Moons Ago"
10"x10"x1.5" Oil & Mixed Media on Panel
by Ruth Andre

This morning I called a good friend that started talking about one of her good friends. She said my friend is older and I said I think you are about the same age. Then my friends said, oh my gosh you are right. We often do not see ourselves as others see us and that just might be a good thing. We can move along in a total blissful state being what we want to be. The painting, "Many Moons Ago" shows the passage of time with each textured ridge making its own path. It has been, "A Painting Day".

Underbrush I & II - Ruth Andre

"Underbrush I"

The wild grasses and underbrush give camouflage and hiding for the wildlife as they move around the ranch. The ground squirrels, dove and quail scurry from place to place for shelter when a hawk soars overhead. It sometimes feels like I am living in a wildlife santuary. It has been, "A Painting Day".

It has been a few days since I have been able to spend time in the studio. The local art show posted in the previous blog post took several days of preparation. I am happy to say the reception Saturday afternoon was a lot of fun. I totally enjoyed greeting those that attended. The show will run all of June and I will be sitting the gallery each Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Sutter Creek is a beautiful rustic town that tourist enjoy visiting year around. I look forward to meeting a few folks making their way around town.
It felt good to paint today and enjoy the process of working with color and composition. When painting abstracts there is  no templet to follow. What shows up on the canvas truly comes from what I am feeling that day. Making my way back to the studio has made for, "A Painting Day"

Raven's Roost - Ruth Andre

"Raven's Roost"
7"x5" oil & mixed media on panel
by Ruth Andre

The raven's have landed! I am enjoying my studio time. The small works let me explore and let go so the paint just flows and finds its place. I have also been getting ready for my coming solo show. It takes a lot of busy work but work that must be completed all the same. Today has been, "A Painting Day".

"Out To Sea" - Ruth Andre

"Out To Sea"
5"x7" oil & mixed media on panel
by Ruth Andre

If you have been following my blog you see I have been working on several small studies. I do this to work with new colors and new ideas. I also work for change. The change is there and is working its way from my minds eye to the canvas. It is frustrating sometimes to know what I want to accomplish and then it mysteriously is not physically there. The painting today is called, "Out To Sea", the feeling I get at times as I work to find land or a small dock to sit for awhile with my painting. There will always be change and that is what keeps art making exciting and makes for many,
"A Painting Day".
