Panhandle Plains Museum Show

The Panhandle Plains Historical Museum celebrated its PPHM Invitational Western Art Show & Sale reception last Saturday night.  The show will run from March 3 to March 24 and may be viewed on line HERE.  I am happy to report my painting, "Ovaro" sold at the reception. Curator, Michael Grauer, has gathered together works for a wonderful exhibit.  I was fortunate enough to visit Canyon, Texas and the event a few years ago.  I recommend visiting PPHM as well as the Palo Duro Canyon in Canyon, Texas. Enjoy the show online or put on your Cowboy Boots and head for the museum. The news has made me happy for "A Painting Day".

"Ovaro"

This little Paint was painted from a reference photo taken by Judi Zoboll.  Judi has a wonderful artistic eye and when I saw her series of Paint horse photos I really wanted to paint them.  Meeting Judi made for, "A Painting Day".

Paint in the Wind

I love Paint horses. Their coats are always unique and their coloring interesting. They are walking art works. The painting today is Mickey, a Paint with a vibrant sorrel and white coat. He is standing out in the pasture and his mane is blowing in the wind. Seeing this handsome boy, made for, "A Painting Day".

Side by Side

This little painting may need a few more swishes of paint but I am kind of excited about it and decided to send it out into the world. My good friend, Sarah, is leading my Paint horse, Hopi, for a little walk, side by side. Hopi is loving the attention and Sarah is enjoying this feisty little mare. Seeing Sarah and Hopi side by side made for, "A Painting Day".

Half & Half

The painting today is of a beautiful ovaro Paint. The horse is wild, living on the plains. I met John, the photographer of the reference photo, on the Flickr website. John is known as calljohn1 on Flickr and his photos are worthy of an afternoon viewing. John was raised on a Pennsylvania farm and moved to Oregon in the early 70's. His love of photography and horses led him to following and photographing, the wild horse herds in Oregon, California and Nevada. Meeting John and seeing his photos made for, "A Painting Day".
