Solitude - Ruth Andre

I am a fan of quiet and solitude. I love people and love being chatty as anyone that knows me knows first hand.  I also love to find a quiet place and solitude. I guess the quiet time is a privilege of sorts,  an added bonus to having good friends and a loving family. The painting today was painted
on and outing with my friend, Julie Trail, at a local winery in the Shenandoah Valley.
We hiked along a vineyard trail to find this quite little pond.

Prairie Wild - Ruth Andre

I am dusting off my cowboy boots and packing my fancy skirts to head down to Paso Robles for the
Cattlemen's Western Art Show & Sale. The show starts off with a reception Friday night 5:00-9:00 PM and  continues on Saturday 10:00-5:00 PM and Sunday 10:00 to 3:30 PM. It is always a fun show.  This will be my fifth visit to the Cattlemen's gala event.  If you are a local to Paso Robles or just visiting please stop by the show and say, hello. There will be 60 artists represented. You will see what it takes to make,
"A Painting Day".

Spring Is In the Air

We have had a mild winter here in the foothills of Sutter Creek. We are thankful for the rain received the last few weeks with more on the way. In between storms the sun shines and the grass grows turning the hills into spectacular beauty. I enjoy seeing the hills green as can be in winter and spring but there is also something special about the  dark green oaks silhouetted against the golden grasses of summer. With spring fast approaching the weather will be perfect and make for "A Painting Day".

Painting the Landscape - Ruth Andre

It is raining here at home. The creek is high but passable and the pasture is still a pasture and not a lake so far. I took some time today to work on a small book called, Painting the Landscape. It is a collection of my palette knife landscape paintings. Each painting has a story with wonderful memories that made for
 "A Painting Day".
