Painting at Home

An update is due.  All is well with my mare, Angel, but the medications continue.  The veterinarian gave Angel a good review, changed her medication schedule so I now do not have to hike to the barn at 10:30 PM.  Last call is now 8:00 PM and I go out more often during the day to medicate Angel's eye, starting at 7:00 AM.  Needless to say I am not getting a lot of rest.  I am getting quality time with my horses since they all get treats and brushing when I am working with Angel.  After 7 weeks of doctoring I have three very spoiled horses.

I have been painting and I spent two full days on a painting and was just about ready to photograph it and made a change and then made another change and finally scrapped the whole darn thing.  It happens!  Right now I have two paintings in the 'almost ready to photograph stage'.  Wish me luck.

I am sharing a photo of a painting in my home of my mare Mystery.  It is 60x40-inches, what one would consider a large painting.  My home is quite small, almost cabin like, and the large work exhibits well in the small space. Never be afraid to purchase a large painting.  You will fall in love with the painting and it will become part of your home.  Something to consider when out shopping for a piece of art.  Being an artist and a horse owner has made for "Painting Days".

Glad to hear your mare is doing better. What a job caring for them. Boy, is that a great painting in your bedroom. You have such a gift!

Hi Carol, Thank-you for the comment. My house is small and my painting of Mystery is in the living area. I truly love large paintings and have another in the dining area and have one more in a bedroom. My kitchen has two small paintings on display. It is wonderful to enjoy your art and cook at the same time.

Thanks for sharing this interior shot. It looks so warm and inviting! I LOVE the painting you just posted on Fresh Paint Daily Painters..."Strawberry Shortcake." Love the patterns of light and dark...a very interesting design. Wishing you all healthy horses!

Wow, that painting of Mystery must be almost life size! It looks great :)

I LOVE this painting of the horse and I LOVE the size also! I just hate it when you work on a painting for a while and realize it is just not working. But better to realize it then than to finish it, take a photo and regret. I love seeing some of your surroundings, very western in feel.

That painting is amazing, and what a statement. I've always wanted to paint a huge piece just for my own space but have never gotten the drive up to do it yet. Someday!

Glad Angel is doing better.

There's a lesson in the painting you scrapped: no one can be a serious painter unless they are willing to radically alter or even destroy a work, no matter how much time or effort is invested in it.

About large paintings: they look great in smaller rooms, where their size makes a real impact. After all, in huge spaces, they don't look nearly as large. This one looks fabulous in your home.

That is so beautiful! And I do love the big size. I'm going to have to order some of my images BIG and see how I like them. Thanks for the suggestion.
