Rain On The Way
Well it is still raining today and I thought I would add one more painting from the very wet workshop, Day Two! We were up in Volcano California with Howard's group of painters and I headed for the old hotel near the end of Main Street. I set up my easel near the hotel entrance with people coming and going but I was dry. Just off the porch area was an old oak with a small cluster of flowers going dormant for winter. It was cool and I was bundled up and took on the challenge to make it, "A Painting Day".
"Rain on the Way"-6x8-inches, oil/on canvas by Ruth Andre
I made this my keepsake memory painting from the workshop and it is safely nestled in my home.

Beautiful soft-focus look in this one. I really like the subtle value contrasts and colors, and I especially like the touch of blue that is just along the horizon.
These soft, muted colors are just lovely, Ruth.
Subtly understated and beautifully done, Ruth.
Very lovely painting. It reminds me of a nursery rhyme that starts "One misty, moisty morning when cloudy was the weather..."
I agree with Theresa - that touch of blue is a wonderful touch. I love the grayed down mixes.
I love your new trees. I noticed your latest one on the blog is not on here yet. You made the most of that painting exercise. Nice muted tones.
I love this one - solitary tree and neutral colors - OH! Just my favorite kind of Fall day!
