Today the painting is of a lone bison bull on the prairie in North Dakota. It reminds me of what it must of been like when small bands of buffalo survived the ravages of extinction during our settlement years in the late 1800's. The brave and proud buffalo roamed the land, their land.
I also have an update on my mare, Angel. The vet was here yesterday to say at best Angel may see shadows but be basically blind in the injured eye. It was hard news after over 2 months of care and medicating the eye. We still have weeks ahead of us before this sagais over. Thank-you for all the messages of support. |

So sorry to hear about Angel, Ruth. But she will still be able to be ridden and she is lucky to have you taking care of her. In your painting, I like the contrast of the dark buffalo against the stark light-colored background. I also like the way you positioned him with a lot of negative space around him which helps define him as a loner.
Ruth I'm sorry to hear about Angel's loss of sight. That must be very hard for you. But thankfully she is still with you.
I'm fascinated by your wonderful paintings of horses, cattle and today a bison. They are beautifully rendered with their faces and eyes so sensitively interpreted. Thanks for sharing your passion.
I am also very sorry to hear the news about Angel, it is sad when you take such good care of them and things don't go well. She is lucky to have you to care for her as you have. She is one of the lucky ones. I hope your painting gives you some stress release.
Angel is so lucky to have such a warm and caring person caring for her in her time of need. Love your Bison..a lot of emotion in his face!
great painting.
You managed to paint a black animal very convincingly and convey his character as well. Your negative space is very nice as well.
