Lincoln II
Lincoln is a Friesian-Shire cross and quite a big boy. I visited Lincoln some time ago at the Mystic Oak Ranch in Plymouth, California and have painted him before but decided he really needed to be painted on a larger canvas to showoff his beautiful coloring. While at the ranch I snapped a few photos of Lincoln. He seemed to enjoy the photo session and being the center of attention. He did his best to pose in between checking out all the mares in near by paddocks. Lincoln's owner is a good friend that loves horses. Meeting and photographing Lincoln made for, "A Painting Day".

This is one of my favorites. I love the softness of the horse, and the brushwork. The way you use the colors of the background in the horse's coat is beautiful.
Vous avez employé de belles couleurs pour cette dernière oeuvre.

Great values.
I really get a sense of his personality and his big luminous brown eyes!
Lincoln is gorgeous Ruth!!
Lincoln is gorgeous, Ruth!!
Ruth,
This is wonderful. I love how you captured his face with such wonderful brushwork. He is definitely checking you back out- love the story with Lincoln. Beautiful.
Ruth your passion for these animals resonate in all of your paintings--well beyond the physicality of technique.
This is a beauty. Jan says it all.
Ditto to all above!!! Lovely!
You've done a wonderful job! He is so beautiful. :) Such personality too! Glad I found your blog, and hey look! I'm your 100th follower!! Woo hoo!
This is an amazing painting Ruth! He has such sheen which you captured beautifully. Once again, a success!
Lovely soft portrait of Lincoln. He looks like a special horse.
This is a small painting yet you have put so much detail into this. His coat is very shiny and the colours lovely. A sensitive portait of a fine horse.
these are so wonderful, and reflect the dignity of these beautiful creatures...
Amazing! He's just beautiful!
Fabulous portrait!
