"Wish You Were Here - The Cabin - Postcard"
4.5"x6.25" oil & mixed media on paper
by Ruth Andre
A few months ago I moved everything out of my studio and now the search is on to find a few misplaced items. Yesterday as I was plundering a storage area I found these archival handmade postcards that had been purchased over 20 years ago. I felt as if I had found gold. Like a kid I ran to the studio and started painting. This is the first postcard for the series. The title came from years past vacationing at Fallen Leaf Lake near Tahoe, California. Lets say the resort was very rustic and the cabins had an age old patina. I loved the days spent on the lake and remember sending postcards saying, Wish you were here... It has been a day full of memories and, A Painting Day".

Really interesting and unique piece. I like the way it gives the effect of looking like rusty corrugated metal or old wood, and is so dimensional. Amazing how you are able to get such a textured look on paper.
