Bits of Gold - Ruth Andre

"Bits of Gold"
6"x6" oil & mixed media on archival canvas panel
by Ruth Andre

I have been invited to show my work at the local Sutter Creek Art Council in June. The council wants to exhibit my animal portraits and landscapes. I need to get painting some new work and headed off to the studio with good intentions to start painting a sorrel colt. Then I got side tracked and painted another little abstract with bits of gold peaking through the layered paint. Sometimes it is difficult to get the mind in motion at the task at hand. The show will be fun and the first local show I have done. It will be good to meet up with good friends and meet new people in the community of Sutter Creek. I hope you enjoy this blog, "A Painting Day" as much as I enjoy sharing it with you.

I so enjoy seeing all of your beautiful paintings. I've only painted in oil with a glaze technique and this is so different that I am mesmerized. I am getting ready to try my first palette knife soon.
