Fire Storm - Ruth Andre

"Fire Storm I & II"
10"x16" oil & mixed media on panel - each panel 10"x8"
by Ruth Andre

At the present time I live in Northern California but was born and raised in Southern California. The news has shown the fires in the south have burned many acres of land and many homes have been lost. I used to live in Carlsbad, California, an area most affected by the fires, so the fires seem close to home. I cannot imagine the terror of losing my home in this way. I have mentioned several times before how the landscape inspires my paintings but with this painting, "Fire Storm" I am thinking that life's happenings conjure up inspiration as well. The feelings are there and can find their way to the canvas. It has been, "A Painting Day".

I think you captured it, Ruth. It was scary, but today here in the fire area it looks good.

Barbara, Thanks for the fire update. I am so thankful you are okay and Fallbrook was not in immediate danger. I also want to say how much I enjoy your blog. Take care.

Hi Ruth. There are those soft grays again...but this time "heavy" and thick. You certainly captured the menacing feeling of smoke over the landscape. Well done.
