Shenandoah

Shenandoah is the 4th painting for a series of horse portraits with shadows. I enjoy painting these intimate horse portraits. This is a friend's Quarter Horse, Diamond, and she lives just over the mountain on a small ranch in the Shenandoah Valley. Seeing Diamond made for, "A Painting Day".

I like this design a lot--with just that hint of shadow.

I used to have a Quarter/Thoroughbred cross mare named Diamond. Though she was sorrel, her head was very similar to this Diamond.

Hi Don, Thank-you. I have been naming this series of horse/shadow paintings after old TV series shows. Do you remember "Shenandoah" and "Lonesome Dove", "The Lone Ranger" and "The Cisco Kid"? I bet your horse was a beauty and very fine being a Quarter/Thoroughbred cross. Take care.
