This is a painting I finished awhile back. It is of a Texas Longhorn steer. Star Buck lives on a small cattle ranch here in the foothills. Meeting Star Buck was a bit of a shock and surprise. I was out taking photos on the ranch when I heard a terrible noise and then Star Buck appeared running at full speed. Luckily I had the camera ready and got a few photos as he ran past me to the new shipment of Herfords that had just arrived. I guess you can say he was most interested in the new neighbors. It was a thrill to see this big guy but an even bigger thrill to see him run past me and not over me. I do love Texas Longhorn Cattle and seeing Star Buck made for, "A Painting Day".

Great brushwork. I'm glad he ran around you instead of over you!
He is a fine specimen....Ruth! So glad you are fleet of foot and was unharmed in the making of this painting.
Love Starbuck. Broken horn and all. Your love for animals shines through your paintings!
Sounds like a scary moment, Ruth - resulting in a beautiful painting!
What struck me about this painting is the almost photographic realism in which the bull is painted against a very soft, misty background.
Beautiful.
Love Star Buck- great name also! Love the difference in the brushwork on Star Buck and the background.
Mon dieu, elle a l'oeil vif, elle paraît jeune et vous l'avez parfaitement bien peint... Vous êtes une fée qui a troqué sa baguette pour un pinceau.
Bisous
Great job on Star Buck! I would have run faster than Star Buck had I seen him coming towards me. ! Beautiful shading and color. I love the background you did! Excellent.
You did a great job on him and boy are you fortunate that he went right on past you! I miss the West when I view your paintings!
Wow! What a scare! Love the painting!!
Lovely work... and I'm very glad this big guy did not run you over!
Love Starbuck!!
