Stained Glass - Ruth Andre

This painting reminds me of how brilliant and intense the sun can be as it slides out of view for the day.  It is like seeing a stained glass through the trees. The beauty of the sun's rays has made for,
"A Painting Day".

The Red Dress - Ruth Andre

Painting can takes its own path and so do painting titles. I was just finishing this painting and the title came to me so I am going with it. If you look at the painting closely you will see horizontal marks as well as the obvious vertical strokes of paint. I loved the intense orange moving to the delicious reds. Enjoying the red palette made for, "A Painting Day".

Just Follow the Main Road - Ruth Andre

I have often stopped for directions and have been told countless times, "Just Follow the Main Road" The more rural the area the more unusual the directions often seem to be. In Missouri when people would ask how to get to town from our farm, we would tell them to go down the road until it dead ends, turn right and then when you come to the five horses on the left turn left. Silly as it was the directions got people were they wanted to go. I may be doing several of these very small 4x6 inch paintings to work a lot of kinks out of my mind right now. They are freeing and the colors sooth my soul. Heading down the road has made for, "A Painting Day".

Puesta de Sol - Ready to Ship - Ruth Andre

You have read how great my framer has been over the years and how I believe frames make a painting complete. Well, today I went to visit Jim Ginney's studio to pick up my painting, "Puesta de Sol". The painting has found a home with a Kay, a wonderful lady that loves the southwest. It was exciting to see the finished framed painting today and it is now all packed ready to ship. No easy task, I might add. There is one thing about visiting Jim's studio and that is his assistant, Sarah. Sarah has a beautiful face and a rather quick and funny way about her and will give you a run for your money. I asked Sarah if she would hold the painting up for me so I could take an iPhone photo and this is what I got. I call it Naughty & Nice. Sarah usually gets me laughing about something but I did not see photo #2 until arriving home. The things artists have to put up with while out in the real world! As you scroll down the last photo of the group is a picture taken just outside Jim's studio back door. His studio is in the foothills of Placerville and the setting is so serene. Nice to know Jim and Sarah and nice  to have had, "A Painting Day".
