Spring Rain - Ruth Andre

"Spring Rain"
12"x6"x1.5" oil & wax on panel
by Ruth Andre

A patron sent an inquiry regarding the painting posted today and as I was looking for another painting I found "Spring Rain". After setting the painting out for a closer look I realized a new photograph was needed. The painting is much quieter than the original photo and I like seeing it now rather than how it was photographed previously.  This is a revisit to, "A Painting Day"

Quartz Mountain - Ruth Andre

"Quartz Mountain"
8'x8" oil & cold wax on canvas
by Ruth Andre

I live in an area where the miners came from all over the world to find gold during the Gold Rush era. Quartz Mountain had gold and the Rancheria Creek to move the ore down the mountain to be processed. The men that traversed the mountains surrounding the valley were strong and spirited. I think of them as being brave to leave their home countries and the people they loved to foster their dream to find gold. Thinking of those that came in search for gold has made for, "A Painting Day".

Whispering Creek - Ruth Andre

"Whispering Creek"
8"x8" oil & cold wax on canvas

The ranch creek is quietly traveling through its bed of sand and pillowy rocks. I think of the creek as a living being that moves through the cycles of life. It is quiet and then rages and then begins to fade and finally is swallowed by the highway of sand that it travels. May the rains come once again and give the creek new life. The quiet of the creek has made, "A Painting Day".

Sand Creek - Ruth Andre

"Sand Creek"
8"x10" oil & cold wax on canvas
by Ruth Andre

The Ranchera Creek, here in the valley, has been the subject for many of my paintings over the years. After the last few days of rain the creek has finally started flowing after months of being dry. The drought here in California has already started taking a toll on the wildlife and natural grasses.  We are promised another storm this coming week and hopefully it will help us get through the seasons without too much damage. Thinking how important the creek is to the wildlife and the valley lands has made for,

Snow Blind - Ruth Andre

"Snow Blind"
6"x6" oil & Wax on Canvas
by Ruth Andre

Each year the Art Association of Jackson Hole, Wyoming puts on the Annual Anonymous Art Sale called "Whodunnit". The funds from the event will support The Art Association's continued effort to keep the arts education a vital part of the Jackson Hole community. Each participating artist is given a 6"x6" canvas to paint. The artist then signs the back of the painting leaving the front unsigned and anonymous. It is a very popular event and one that I feel positive about supporting.
