Montana Blue
The studio is buzzing today with several paintings in different stages of completion. Cooper is waiting patiently for his next coat of color. I had an idea in my head and just had to give it a try. Sometimes you cannot wait to work efficiently you just go for it. I wanted to push myself out of my subtle color palette and see what it would be like to paint something a bit wild. I am experimenting and plan to send this painting on to be judged for a show in Albuquerque. Going a bit Wild has made for, "A Painting Day".

Rain On The Way
Well it is still raining today and I thought I would add one more painting from the very wet workshop, Day Two! We were up in Volcano California with Howard's group of painters and I headed for the old hotel near the end of Main Street. I set up my easel near the hotel entrance with people coming and going but I was dry. Just off the porch area was an old oak with a small cluster of flowers going dormant for winter. It was cool and I was bundled up and took on the challenge to make it, "A Painting Day".

I made this my keepsake memory painting from the workshop and it is safely nestled in my home.

One of the Girls
With the cooler breezes comes the promise of fall and with fall comes the rain and green grass. Here in the foothills the cows do come home during the fall season. I am not sure where they are trucked off to during the summer months but once the grass starts to sprout the cows and their calves dot the valley floor and the hills. This painting is of a Hereford cow just down the road from our property here in the back country. Keeping a look out for cows made for, "A Painting Day".

The Slip
"The Slip" - 5x5-inches, oil/canvas
I know, I know, I go from western works to landscape and now a figure painting! This is a special painting and is being donated to the City of Hope for continued research for Women's cancers. Each artist was invited to paint either a slip or a corset. I liked the idea of the slip mixed with a little romance. "The Slip" is being shipped out today to the Ghost Gallery in Seattle, Washington for the "Celebrating the Shape of Life"exhibit. I have donated this painting to my aunt Frances, who has taught me much about life and how to continue to live it to its fullest, even when you are handed the roughest of times. I call her Auntie and she is a great inspiration to me and to all the people that know her. We all need an "Auntie" in our lives. Knowing Auntie all of my life has made for, "A Painting Day".
