I decided to explore a little with this wild raven painting, I used a palette knife and oils to express a likeness of this feathered creature. From what I have read the black feathers of a raven shine with a blue cast when caught by the sun's rays. They can also grow to be 24 inches tall. Ravens are proud intelligent birds that like to forage in quiet areas. Thinking about these beautiful wild ravens made for, "A Painting Day".

March Calendar
March is still wet and cold here in the foothills but I am seeing signs of spring just a few miles down the mountain as I head for town on my weekly treks. The horses are shedding their winter coats so all is on track for a few weeks of spring weather coming in the next month or two. The studio is my haven and it is filled to the brim at the moment. I have gotten started on a few larger paintings and finding room for all of them as they move through their different stages is a bit of a juggling act but the work is coming together. March is making for many, "A Painting Day".

Desert Spirit
This is the third painting of my Wild Series. The images are small colorful studies that may later be painted again on much larger canvas'. It has been fun to experiment with color and I have found that the spirit of the animal comes through with the color change. I will post all three works below so you can see them as a group. It has been fun and taking another look at color has made for, "A Painting Day".
