Texas Lady - TWO

Yesterday I posted the painting, Texas Lady. I have been asked to post the other two Texas Lady paintings so here is number -TWO of the series. As you can see each cow is very distinctive and a real beauty in her own way. These cows have good breeding and are pretty docile for easy handling. A bit of Texas made for, "A Painting Day".

Texas Lady

This is one of my favorite cow paintings and it is of a Brahma/Hereford Cross. This black and white beauty stole my heart. I painted her for a lady rancher in Texas along with two other pasture mates for a special gift to her husband. I enjoyed this painting project. Each cow was a different color and each seemed to have their very own personality. The big brown eyes of Texas Lady made for, "A Painting Day".

Magic Dreams

The post today is a painting of Magic, a very special lab owned by a friend of mine. Magic found a home as an adult dog with Sharon Cohen. Sharon also has Magic's grandson, Tank, and the two labs are very happy indeed to have each other's company. This special lady lab is resting on her dog pillows taking a snooze. Sharon is a talented designer of individual hand loomed knits. Her company is Bicron Designs. You can find more about Sharon's beautiful designed knits on her website link below. Roseta

I went to visit a friend and she had this darling donkey. I think she had a really strange name so I have named her Roseta. It seemed to fit her coloring and her southwest heritage. Roseta will be a special guest at the coming "Mischief" exhibit at the Studio Gallery in San Francisco. I have three small paintings making their debut at the gallery. Woven In Time

This is a book of iPhone Finger Paintings inspired by my love of the woven form. While living on a farm in Missouri I became a basket maker. I wove vessels and totally enjoyed collecting weaving materials from nature. The book, "Woven In Time" is a joining of my painted works and earlier woven forms. Shaman

This has been an exciting week. I have been able to get out and photograph horses and buffalo in Southern California. There will be paintings coming soon from this very fun trip. Today's painting is a handsome buffalo. As I was painting this piece, I felt the image come alive with every stroke. With the spirit of the buffalo in mind, I named him "Shaman" and it made for, "A Painting Day".

Ladies in Waiting

While waiting the eleven months for my mare, Angel, to give birth to her little filly, I read the book, "Blessed Are The Brood Mares" by M. Phyllis Lose. It was a book full of information about brood mares, and what to expect during the birth of the colt. I remember the April afternoon when Angel said this is it. I had the book near by and it was a good thing since the little filly was a little twisted around and needed a good yank to get her out into the world. Whew! It was scary and I said, I would never do it again. My mare was a good mother, so I too agree, "Blessed Are The Brood Mares". Seeing our mare and her new filly, made for, "A Painting Day".

Partners

This is a painting of a young man and his horse, as they were waiting for their number to be called for competition. The horse was as patient as can be and acted like he knew the routine and was in good hands. The two of them were partners and did well in the ring. Paint in the Wind

I love Paint horses. Their coats are always unique and their coloring interesting. They are walking art works. The painting today is Mickey, a Paint with a vibrant sorrel and white coat. He is standing out in the pasture and his mane is blowing in the wind. Seeing this handsome boy, made for, "A Painting Day".

Patriarch of the Plains

This painting is a tribute to the wild horses out on the plains. They are going through a difficult time right now. The wild herds are being rounded up and in time, I am afraid there will not be wild horses in the US, except for an occasional feral horse that has been let go or one that has escaped. Times are changing. Seeing this beautiful stallion made for, "A Painting Day".
