"Passing Rain"
12"x12" mixed media on panel
by Ruth Andre
Spring and summer bring back childhood memories. This painting in particular reminds me of a time I was visiting family that lived in the hills of Kentucky when a sudden storm came through the holler. Pots were set out to catch the rain and we all settled in under the porch to enjoy the cool breezes. When the rain had past the pots of water were gathered and we all washed our hair with the rain water. I thought it was a bit crazy at the time but came to understand that rain water is like a spa treatment for the hair. Memories of the old ways have made for, "A Painting Day".

This painting certainly has that feel of a soft spring rain. The blue suggests puddles to me. I'm really enjoying your abstracts and sometimes think I would like to give it a try.
Nice as usual! Good old days!
Catherine, Your work is always so lovely and if you do try working in the abstract I would love to see the paintings.
Manisha, Thank-you for your comment and the nod to the good old days. It is so funny to look back to see what we remember from being a kid.
Beautiful painting Ruth. It makes me wish it would rain here in SoCal.
