A Painting Day - Still Standing - Ruth Andre

"Still Standing"
4.5"x4.5" Oil and Cold Wax on Paper
12"x12" Hand Cut Mat
Challenge Painting Forty-Seven
by Ruth Andre

Here is another painting inspired by the old buildings in and around where I live in Sutter Creek, California. This painting was inspired by the old wooden buildings. Sometimes they are leaning and have slates of light coming through the old timbers. They were built so long ago and they still make one think about how they were  used. I am happy a few of these old structures still stand as a reminder of times past. It has been, "A Painting Day".

Beautiful! I also love the colors, they breathe the abandonned atmosphere!

Fabulous painting, beautiful color combination! You are lucky to live in a place with so much history, too!

History abounds in the valley from old stone fences to rock buildings once used by the minors. Seeing these buildings is a constant reminder of ties past. Thank, Theresa for your comment.
